Thyroid ultrasound
When is an ultrasound investigation of the thyroid performed?
The thyroid ultrasound is a painless investigation and its purpose is to evaluate the size and structure of the thyroid. Nodules in the thyroid can be measured accurately. Over time, the investigation permits the physician to assess whether the nodules have changed in size or not. With the aid of the ultrasound investigation of the thyroid, inflammatory processes in the organ that may, for instance, occur in the presence of autoimmune diseases of the thyroid can also be discovered. Cysts can be diagnosed. Additional blood tests may be needed in some cases and these can also be performed at our medical office.
